Tirzepatide, is a GLP-1 drug that is taken once-weekly as an injectable to promote weight loss by regulating blood sugars and reducing hemoglobin A1C levels. Tirzepatide works similarly to the other drugs in the GLP-1 family, but it contains an extra molecule that may give it a slight edge.

The medication has a dual-action design, mimicking the action of two unique incretin hormones involved in blood sugar control: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This unique dual action makes it the first-in-class medication that acts on both of these receptors.

These treatments require an assessment of your medical history and lab work by a Peaks Curative medical provider.

GIP is a hormone that may complement the effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists. In preclinical models, GIP has been shown to decrease food intake and increase energy expenditure, therefore resulting in weight reductions. When combined with the GLP-1 receptor agonist, GIP usage may have a greater impact on markers of metabolic dysregulation, such as body weight, glucose and lipids.

On average, patients lose up to 22.5% of their body weight on this program.

Mechanism of Action: Tirzepatide is both a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It selectively binds to and activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, the targets for native GIP and GLP-1 hormones. GIP and GIP-1 are hormones that are primarily released from the body’s small intestine that enhances the release of insulin following the consumption of food. Both of these hormones are known as incretins, with tirzepatide belonging to a class of drugs known as incretin mimetics. Tirzepatide works by directly activating GIP and GLP-1 pathways to help regulate blood sugar.

How it Works

1. Enroll

Enroll in the program and complete the required medical questionnaire. If our licensed doctor determines that you are eligible for the program, you may (or may not be required, depending on the individual review, to submit labwork) and your patient profile will be built out on our secure HIPAA-compliant portal.

2. Complete Labs

Complete all lab work (if required). There is no additional charge for this service. Our medical provider will review your questionnaire and results to further assess eligibility and, if medically appropriate, prescribe the medicine you are requesting.

3. Get it Delivered

Once prescribed by our medical providers, your prescription is sent to our partner compounding pharmacy (or in some cases, another pharmacy of your choosing). Our partner pharmacy will then expedite shipping of your prescription (and supplies, if applicable) direct to your doorstep!

Can I start on the current dosage that I’m taking from another clinic/provider?

You can send your current prescription after enrollment to us. The prescription needs to include the patient’s name, prescriber name, medication name, medication strength, medication dosage prescribed, and the date of the prescription

If our medical providers determine you are ineligible for the prescribed medication, you will receive a full refund, and your subscription will be canceled. The refund process may take 3-5 business days, depending on your bank/credit card provider.

Recent lab work is required for this treatment to ensure a safe and accurate prescription. If you have labs from within the past six months, including CBC, CMP, TSH, and A1C, you can upload them to our secure HIPAA portal during your patient intake after enrollment.

To request a refill, you can so by adding the item to your account. You will be eligible for a refill when you have about 2-3 weeks of medication remaining. If you wish to increase your dosage, please advise us when requesting the refill.
